  • 2017 Teams Needing Players

     Posted on: Jul 25, 2017

We are currently seeking players for the following recreational (house) teams: GU8 (born 2010) GU10 (bo ..

The Port Moody Soccer Club offers two streams of development for our U8 – U10 players. As a reminder, the Port Moody Soccer Club introduced the streaming program to allow children to play and develop together according to their abilities. All Clubs involved in the program have found it to be very successful, benefitting players in both the community (house) and development streams.

This year we are looking to enhance our program by providing additional technical support to all players and coaches. We want all players to be challenged, to build their skills and enjoy their playing experiences. We believe that providing players with the opportunity to play with and against those of similar ability will continue to enhance both the player and coaches’ development.

    Development Enhanced Program:

    • U8 Boys & Girls
    • U9 Boys & Girls
    • U10 Boys & Girls

Team rosters will be kept to a minimum number to allow for players from our Community (House) teams to be called up to play an additional game on one of the Development teams on an as needed basis. The players picked for these spots will be identified by our Technical Director and Staff coaches, and coordinated with their team’s coaches.

    • U8 – minimum of 8 players per team
    • U9/10 – minimum of 9 or 10 players per team
    • All Tri-Cities Clubs will be scheduling Development games so as not to conflict with Community/House games. This will allow any players asked to play for another team the opportunity to play for their own team the same day.
    • All teams community/house teams will have one practice scheduled during the week, with one game on the weekend.
    • Our development/streaming teams will have one team practice, one technical training and one game on the weekend.
    • The club also offers a 4v4 session that is open to all players in the club. More information can be found on the 4v4 page.

    Coaching Selection:

Coach selections for our U8 – U10 Development teams will be made by our Coaches Selection Committee, chaired by our Technical Director. Coaches will be identified and interviewed, but not selected until evaluations are completed.

    Player Selection:

    • Evaluations will be held following the current season for all groups. We will be having two sessions for each age group with evaluations led by our Technical Director and our PMSC Staff Coaches.
    • Players will be asked to sign up for the evaluations. Information and sign-up form will be on our website prior to Spring Break.
    • For U8 - U10 age groups, we will create two balanced teams with some exceptions based on numbers. Some consideration may be given to neighbourhood/school areas.

Form more information about the U8 - U10 Streaming Program, please contact the Boys Non-Competitive Director or the Girls Non-Competitive Director.
