  • March 15th, 2016 - Port Moody, BC. The PMSC executive is excited to share with you that advances are being made with the proposed development (turfing) of Inlet Field. FINALLY!!

A massive step forward has been made with respect to the Inlet Field Re-Development! And we couldn't be happier!

Council decided on a phased redevelopment plan in 2012, starting with a single field and baseball diamond on a north-south alignment that would minimize encroachment into the surrounding park and forest at a cost of about $2.7 million. Future additions could include a second soccer field, clubhouse, batting cage and extra parking, which would add another $3 million.

Council approved allocating $375,000 for a new Inlet Park Field Redevelopment Capital Reserve, coming from federal gas tax funds and the 2015 operating budget surplus, and that the city and PMSC work together on corporate sponsorship and donation opportunities.

To read the official Tri City News Article click here.

The executive formed a sub-committee about 18 months ago called ‘RIFT’ (Redevelopment of Inlet Field Taskforce), and has been working to engage other associations (i.e. field lacrosse, baseball, etc.) and members of Port Moody City Council to push this project forward. There have also been many meetings with City staff to discuss development options.

You may have seen in a recent Tri-City News article, or read in the City Council minutes, that Council just approved the reallocation of funds, of which $375,000 has been put into an Inlet Park Field Redevelopment Capital Reserve Fund, so now is the time to ramp up the momentum and keep it going!

On February 15th, the PMSC and the City of Port Moody held an open house to discuss the following:

    • Updating you on the status of the project
    • Discussing the field layout City Council has pre-approved and the needs of our members
    • brainstorming on potential fundraising (we need to form a committee to help with this)

For many years our members have been asking, “when is something going to be done with Inlet Field”, and it now looks like this will happen. We need your support and participation in order to make this a reality.
