    • Year End Jamboree Recap

       Posted on: Mar 09, 2015

What a wonderful weekend to spend on the soccer field! Port Moody Soccer Club hosted its U6 to U8 season-end jamboree at Heritage Woods field and turf on Feb 28th/Mar 1st weekend! With a total of 41 teams participating over the two days.

The aim of the jamboree was to have a lot of fun, so each day started out with a parade of teams, each carrying their own special team sign. MLA Linda Reimer and MP candidate Tim Laidler led the parade on Saturday, and Port Moody Mayor Mike Clay also came to take in the festivities. On Sunday, representatives from the FIFA Women’s World Cupwere there, along with Port Moody's own singing sensation, Tyler Shaw, whose song ‘Showtime’ was chosen as Official Song of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014. Way to go Tyler!  CLICK HEREto read more about Tyler Shaw and his success!

The boys and girls got to play a few soccer games, participate in fun skills sessions and even test their skill as they had their fastest kick speed measured by laser gun, inside an inflatable soccer field. Playing soccer makes you hungry, so luckily the Kinsmen were on site with their food trailer, and the Rocky Point Ice Cream Scooper truck was perfect for the lovely spring-like weather.

The 420 kids in the club’s junior teams were seen proudly wearing their new medals, T-shirts and toques after their weekend of fun!
