Welcome back to the pitch PMSC
Hi Port Moody Soccer Club parents,
Super excited to have the kids all back playing soccer now - these last few weeks will go very fast. Here are a few updates:
GAMES: A few teams started last weekend, but most of our PMSC teams start games this coming weekend. Teams participating in the BCCSL league (U11/U12 div 1&2 and U13-U18) have started their championship series (GOOD LUCK!) and do not have games scheduled on Jan 26/27 as this is a make-up weekend with the league, however some teams will have District Cup games or team-organized friendlies. The last week for all games is:
- BCCSL divisional teams - March 2/3
- BCCSL Metro teams - March 9/10
- TCYSA U8-U12 house teams - March 2/3
- PMSC U6-U12 year end Jamboree - March 9
Also good luck to all the divisional teams still in the playdowns for the District Cup:
- GU15 Div 1 Heat
- BU14 Div 1 United
- BU15 Div 2 Gunners
- BU16 Div 2 TAAJ-FC
- BU18 Div 1 Gunners
- BU18 Div 3 United
We had a number of instances in 2018 of disrespect to our referees - including an instance escalating to BC Soccer for disciplinary action. Remember that most of our referees are kids in our community and players within our Club. This is a job and work experience for them, and working as a referee is much more than just about a service to the club... this is an opportunity for these kids to be leaders and gain confidence. Treat them as you would if it was your child on the field, and know that Port Moody Soccer and BC Soccer have a zero tolerance for referee abuse.
ANNUAL FRASER VALLEY vs VAN ISLAND SOCCER LEAGUE ALL-STAR GAME:
Port Moody is hosting these games today (Sat, Jan 12) at 1:00 & 3:00pm at Trasolini Turf. We have several PMSC players and coaches involved in both the Masters and Men’s Open Premier team games.
Come down and show your support!
Registration will be opening for Port Moody's spring soccer season on Monday, Jan 14. Registration is OPEN to all players (registration is by individual, not by team)… so if you are currently on a team with a coach who is not planning to play/coach spring, don't fret, as we can look to place you on another team for the season.
SOMETHING TO CONSIDER:
One of our PMSC parents shared the following blog link that features a letter written by a mother to her son after missing a goal in the 'big game'. It's a great read and is a good reminder about what youth sport is really all about. If you have a few minutes it is worth the read.
