    • U8 Allstars take 2nd place at Mini-Gobbler

       Posted on: Oct 14, 2014

The 07 Allstars (Boys U8 Development) were back on the tournament scene this long weekend attending the annual Wesburn Mini-Gobbler tournament held at Burnaby Lake West complex.

The boys played their first game against a U9 team from Cliff Avenue. The boys battled hard against the older, faster and stronger opponent and lost by only one goal. It was a fantastic effort by everyone with Harrison B. being selected MVP of the game.

In the second game, the boys played the U8 Central City Breakers development team. Port Moody found their legs and played an exceptional game on the larger field. With solid defending and a quick attack, the boys were able to score a few goals and won the game with Tyson M. being selected MVP of the game. In their final game, against the U8 North Delta Development team, the boys were now in full stride and with some good possession and quality scoring chances, the boys finished the tournament with a solid win with Dylan W. being selected MVP of the game.

Though scores and standings usually aren’t kept at this age group, the tournament organizers did, and the Allstars, with a 2 win and 1 lose record finished second in the group behind the undefeated U9 Cliff Ave team.

With boisterous parents cheering them on, the boys went home with trophies, 2nd place medals, water bottles and lots and lots of smiles!

Congratulations to (l to r in photo): Matthew, Liam, Tyson, Dylan Tyler, Tyler, Harrison, Liam and Blake.
