      Dear members,

Spring is here even though it doesn’t feel like a typical west coast one, but soccer is in full swing. We have quite a number of teams playing in the Cascadia Spring League who are enjoying a new level of competition. Tryouts are nearly complete and our registration is open for the 2017/18 season. I encourage all of you to welcome new players to our club and encourage them to sign up for the fall.

We have a great technical program for next season with our TD, Johnny Sulentic and on the girl’s side with Brittany Baxter. We are really excited to have Euro Pro as part of the club now and we can offer a top-notch training program that is unique for a club our size or any size, for that matter. We are also very fortunate to have Melissa Tancredi working with all our kids to make sure they warm up correctly and are prepared to hit the pitch and prevent injuries.

Congratulations to all our teams who went to cup play and represented our club in a positive way. We are very proud of the commitment and dedication you all have demonstrated to get to this level. We hope you all come back next year and continue working hard.

I also want to congratulate all of our award winners from our awards night and to thank our event sponsors for being so generous with prizes.

We welcomed Johnny Millin as a Life Member to recognize his long service to the club and all the efforts he has put in to further our sport in the community. We certainly wouldn’t be the club we are today without him.

I would also like to invite all of you to our club AGM in June and will publish the date on the website once we have the meeting finalized. We will be sharing some important information with all our members in advance of the AGM with a number of proposed changes to the way the executive is organized in an effort to better focus our efforts toward achieving our strategic plan. It is important to have as many of you as possible at that meeting to be updated on what we have been up to and where we are going as a club. You also get to vote for the executive members at that meeting.

I want to remind everyone that our club is very well respected for fair play and sportsmanship and when you step onto the pitch as a coach, player, parent or supporter, you represent the Port Moody Soccer Club. Please keep this in mind and ensure we continue to be the best little club in the lower mainland.

The Port Moody Soccer Club is a volunteer based club and we are always looking at better ways to improve our club that will benefit all of our coaches & players. If you have a suggestion or comment, please do not hesitate to send us an e-mail as we would love to hear from you.

Please remember to visit our website regularly to see the latest and greatest “what’s happening” in our club.

I hope we are in for more sunny days and I look forward to seeing you on the pitch!
